Food energizes, replenishes, and revitalizes the mind, body, and soul.
Andiamo Italia 7096 E 14 Mile Warren, MI 48092 586-268-3200 Description: Believe it or not, the breathtaking decor at both Andiamo Italia restaurants will not be the highlight of your visit. Once you've been adequately impressed by the elegant table settings and stunning murals painted on walls and ceilings, the cuisine itself will steal your heart. Though you could easily make a meal out of the lengthy list of appetizers such as smoked lake trout and baked Portabella mushrooms with zip sauce, make sure you sample a variety of entrees. Xochimilco Restaurant 3409 Bagley St Detroit, MI 48216 313-843-0179 Description: Smack dab in the middle of Mexican Town, this place garners glorious raves for its more-than-ample parking lot. It's huge and free, which is rare for Detroit. Inside, you'll find an interesting mix of neighborhood folks, suburban commuters, police officers and gobs of hipsters grabbing a late night bite. The Mexican fare at Xochimilco (pronounced so-she-MIL-co) is traditional, consistent and fresh. Look under the ''favorites of Mexico'' portion of the menu to find more than the typical taco and chimichanga offerings. Charley's Crab 5498 Crooks Rd. Northfield Hilton Troy, MI 48098 248-879-2060 Description: Charley's Crab is the quintessential Chuck Muer restaurant: Cool decor, high-quality seafood and exceptional service. The primary dining room has exposed brick walls, hefty wood beams across the ceiling and reclaimed wood paneling. The ocean-blue carpeting and windows give one that under-the-sea feeling, and for good reason. Reel in the yellowfin tuna sashimi, steamed shrimp and sausage dumplings or the Maryland crab cakes. Ruth's Chris Steak House 755 West Big Beaver Rd. Troy, MI 48084 248-269-8424 Description: Ruth's Chris Steakhouse has been serving up some of the tastiest steaks around (at moderate prices) since the first one opened in New Orleans in 1965. This family-oriented restaurant offers fresh seafood, chicken, veal, lamb, salads and vegetables, in addition to its savory filet, NY strip, porterhouse, rib-eye and T-bone steaks. Those not interested in beef should give the mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat, the fresh lobster or the stuffed chicken breast a go-around. An extensive wine list is also offered. Top off your meal with a slice of chocolate sin cake -- that is, if you have room for dessert. La Shish - East 12918 Michigan Avenue Dearborn, MI 48126 313-584-4477 Description: There's really nothing subtle about this local Lebanese chain of restaurants. While locations vary in size, the menus are identical and the decor is similar. Sit among the brightly colored, ornate artifacts from the Middle East, soak up the native music and inhale the pungent, pleasant variety of spices coming from the kitchen. It's a sublime experience. The endless baskets of fresh-from-the-oven pita are perfect for dipping in hummus.
